Well, this post is long overdue. Life just got a little crazy these past few weeks and I didn’t get around to posting as many recipes as I normally do. I apologize for that! But I am human and this kind of thing just happens sometimes. But I’m here now and ready to get back at it.
Happy New Year!!!
I hope the first few days of 2017 have been great to you so far! If you read my last post I talked a little bit about our NYE plans. Well if you’re wondering, the fried turkey was a success! And oh the relief we felt. We were pretty nervous about it because it was our first time cooking a whole turkey (which is always intimidating) and also because it was our first time using the infrared fryer we bought. I have to say it’s a bit risky to decide to throw a dinner party where you’re cooking something you’ve never cooked before using a piece of equipment you’ve never used before to cook it.. but I had full faith in us and we pulled through! I also made the traditional New Year’s sides like collards, black eyed peas (with brown rice), cornbread and I also added in mashed potatoes. A true southern feast! I think this might be a new tradition. Bringing in the new year with really good friends eating really good food and having a really good time.. nothing beats that.
